Portals, quoting tools and catalogs that run your sales

The short answer

What a custom web app does for a service business

We build browser-based tools for service businesses anywhere in the US: customer portals, quoting and estimate tools, and product catalogs with Stripe checkout and an admin page where you change prices yourself. They are built to the same speed, accessibility and search standard as our websites, and you own the code and every account.

A web app is worth it when a spreadsheet, a PDF price list and a lot of phone calls are doing a job that customers would rather do themselves at 10 p.m. It is not worth it when a monthly app already does 90% of what you need. We will say which one you are on the first call.

What you get

The kinds of tools we build

01

Customer portals

One link where a customer sees their job status, documents, photos, invoices and next appointment.

  • Sign-in by a one-time email code, so no passwords to leak
  • Status pulled from your job software where it allows
  • Fewer "where are we at?" calls

02

Quoting and estimate tools

A guided form that turns a customer's answers into a price range or a firm quote using your own pricing rules.

  • Your rules, editable without a developer
  • Quote saved and emailed as a PDF
  • Deposit taken by Stripe when you want it

03

Catalogs with Stripe

Products, packages or service plans with live prices, one-time payments and subscriptions.

  • Prices come from one database row, so the page, search markup and checkout always match
  • Stripe holds the cards; you never store one
  • Customers manage billing through Stripe's own portal

04

Admin pricing

A private page where you add products, change prices, hide items and see who is paying for what.

  • Behind a sign-in only your email can pass
  • Every change logged: who, when, old and new
  • A price change shows on the next page visit, with no rebuild

Proof

You are looking at one

This website runs on the catalog pattern described above. Its prices are read from a database on every visit and written into the page and its search markup in the same step, and the price editor sits behind a sign-in that only the owner's email can pass. Under the hood shows how, and the X-ray toggle in the header lets you see the price data behind any price card.

Shaun also built and runs a subscription software product with a catalog, Stripe payments, a large database and an AI connector. The pricing pattern here came from that product.

Card fees are Stripe's, not ours: the standard US rate for a domestic card was 2.9% + 30¢ per successful charge when we checked on 27 October 2026 (Stripe pricing). They are paid from your own Stripe account.

Prices

Start with discovery, then build in sprints

A web app is quoted after paid discovery, because scope is what moves the price. The discovery fee is credited to the build.

How it runs

Discovery, sprints, hand-over

Discovery

A working session on what the tool must do, who uses it and what it connects to. You get an architecture and an estimate in two-week sprints.

Sprints

Two-week rounds. Each ends with a demo you can click and the tests that prove it works.

Launch

Checked against our launch standard: speed, accessibility, security headers and every form tested on the live address before anyone relies on it.

Hand-over

A runbook, a test suite and the accounts in your name. Monthly care is optional.

Before you call

Five questions that make discovery faster

  1. What do customers or staff do today, step by step, and where do they get stuck?
  2. Which systems hold the information now (job software, QuickBooks, spreadsheets, email)?
  3. Who needs to sign in, and what should each person see?
  4. Do you take money online now, and would you like deposits or subscriptions?
  5. What would tell you, three months in, that it was worth it?

FAQ

Questions about custom web apps

Why not just use an off-the-shelf portal or quoting app?

If one fits, use it. Custom makes sense when your pricing rules are unusual, when you are paying for several apps that do not talk to each other, or when you want the tool on your own website and under your own name.

Can customers pay deposits and monthly plans?

Yes. Stripe Checkout handles one-time payments, deposits and subscriptions, and customers update cards or download invoices through Stripe's billing portal.

Will it slow down my website?

No. The tool is built to the same launch standard as our websites, and the heavy parts load only on the pages that use them.

Can I change prices myself?

Yes. That is the point of the admin page. A price you save shows on the next visit, and the old and new values are logged.

What happens if you are not around?

The code, hosting and Stripe account are yours from day one, and the runbook and tests let another developer pick it up.
